The Tabernacle of Moses and the Cloud of YAHWEH (The Lord of Faith)
Dr. Lee Warren Plim Report

Introduction

There are many mysteries in the Holy Scriptures, but there is no greater mystery than the fiery Cloud of Yahweh (the Lord). It led Israel out of Egypt and throughout their journey to Canaan or the Promise Land (Ex 40:34-38). Yahweh’s voice spoke the Ten Commandment Law from this fiery Cloud as it sat on top of Mt. Sinai (Ex. 19:16; 20th chp.). The fiery Cloud also resided between the wings of the cherubs above the Mercy Seat in the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle (Ex. 25:22; Lev. 16:2; Num. 7:89).

This Cloud appeared to the prophets (Ezk 1:4, 28, 10:3-4), at the transfiguration of the Messiah on Mt. Tabor (Mt. 17:1-5), and at His ascension to take the Messiah into heaven (Acts 1:9-10). Paul said that Yahweh is a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29). Finally, John said in Revelation: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him (Rev 1:7).” So, this Cloud has to have some great symbolic significance to humans.

Have non-Christians seen the Cloud?

The cloud has also appeared to Gentiles although many Christians do not believe it. The Old Testament shows many instances of Elohim (God) appearing to Gentiles. Numerous cultures and religions have documented seeing the fiery Cloud or sacred fire God whom they ignorantly worshipped (Acts 17:23).

According to Madam B. P. Blavatsky (18 - ), founder of the Theosophical Society, in her book Secret Doctrine (© 1993 Theosophical Publishing House), humankind from their very beginning knew that the ultimate Creator was represented as a “living fire and eternal witness to this unseen presence…(p. 2).” According to Madam B. P. Blavatsky’s book Isis Unveiled, the Persia God Mithras and the Hindu Gods (Brahma, Unghi, and Siva) were all described as fire gods with similar qualities as the Hebrew God Yahweh (Vol. 1, p.156 Theosophical University Press 1877).

What is the intent of this article?

The intent of this article is to explain the symbolic meaning and the divine purpose of the cloud. It will also show that Yahweh chose a Cloud to symbolize Himself for us to understand the nature of Spirit and how it interacts with the soul and consciousness of man.

We will use the tabernacle to aid in a correct, divine interpretation of the Cloud. Without the model of the tabernacle and examples given to Israel, humans would remain in darkness about the working and operation of Spirit or this cloud.

Mankind’s reason, intellect, and imagination cannot aid him in understanding Spirit. Paul wrote: “But Elohim (God) hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of Elohim (God, 1 Cor 2:10).”

This article will examine Biblical references first before we examine modern day testimonies and other culture’s experiences with the cloud. Many people today, in all cultures and religions, have had psychic experiences seeing the Cloud and its light. These visions, out-of-body experiences (OBE), and near death experiences (NDB), enable them to observe the soul leaving the body, which they describe as a fog or cloud-like substance. It shows that everyone lives, moves, and has their being within Spirit as the Apostle Paul said (Acts 17:22-24).

This article will also show that these experiences validate the prophets’ visions and the Bible. In essence, we are dealing with universal Spirit that transcends race, nationality, cultures, and religions.

According to the book Angels by Macolm Godwin (©1990 Simon Schuster), psychologists and theologians hotly debate modern encounters with this cloud. There is no consensus for these experiences and they are often classified as hallucinations or delusions. Experiences with this cloud differ because people interpret their spiritual experiences in terms of their own religious or culture experiences. Some report that they have witnessed UFOs and aliens—not having any other model by which to judge the experience.

What was the purpose of the Cloud in Israel’s migration?

The first mention of the Cloud that led Israel out of Egypt occurred at a place called Etham. This is where Israel camped before they entered the wilderness (Ex. 13:20). Now the Cloud was a pillar of fire by night and Cloud by day (Ex. 13:21-22, Psa. 105:39). Clearly, this was not any ordinary rain Cloud in the sky. In reality, this Cloud was a spiritual or psychic phenomenon.

The purpose of the Cloud was to give light to Israel by night, direct their steps to the promised land, and provide for their basic necessities. Israel was never in darkness throughout their forty years in the wilderness (Ex. 40:34-38; see also Num. 9:16-22). The Cloud emitting illumination demonstrates that we are never in darkness in our spiritual journeys. The Messiah confirmed this by saying that He was the light and those that followed him shall not walk in darkness (Jn. 8:12).

The Cloud provided Israel with their basic necessities. Manna rained down from heaven (Ex. 16th chp.) which they made into bread. Their clothes and shoes did not wear out during these forty years in the wilderness (Deu. 29:5; Neh. 9:5). All this showed that the Cloud was their Provider (Ex. 6:3) and it had the ability to bring into existence what ever they needed.

Understanding that the fiery Cloud and the migration of the children of Israel are models or paradigms, enables us to analyze the nature of the Godhead and supernatural phenomena, such as out-of-body (OTB) experiences.

Many ask what substance was this cloud?

Clearly, the Cloud was not physical because Israel heard a voice speaking the Ten Commandment Laws from this Cloud (Ex. 19:16) (Ex. 20th chp.). No one knows the exact composition of this cloud, except that it was Spirit. All anyone can say about the composition of this ‘Spirit cloud’ is that it was made of an incorporeal or non-material substance or some energy higher than physical energy and matter.

Now many scholars of the psychic realm have tried to name spiritual energy. They have called it “cosmic energy,” “ectoplasm” or thousands of other names. The problem is that there is no way of verifying these names, for the properties of Spirit cannot be directly observed. Spirit can only be understood in analogies and experienced through visions and revelations (Num. 12:8). All the properties of physical matter and energy are reflective of the Pure Spirit parent substance. [Note: The voice that Israel heard from this Cloud was not physical. The words were spoken directly into their hearts and minds. This was a non-physical mode of communication sometimes referred to as telepathy.]

Finally, no one can deny that principles, such as pure Intelligence, Wisdom, Knowledge, Love, Beauty, Power, and Strength, emanate from this cloud.

What is the origin of the word 'Cloud'?

To begin investigating the symbolical purpose of the cloud, the etymology of the Hebrew word ‘cloud’ must be understood and the cultural understanding about clouds examined.

In Hebrew, the word for ‘cloud’ is `anan’ pronounced (aw-nawn’). It is defined by Strong Exhaustive Concordance # 6051; a cloud (as covering the sky), i.e. the nimbus or thunder-cloud:,” but it has another meaning when it is used to describe this phenomenal cloud. It is defined as “a) a cloud-mass (used of a theophanic cloud). Here the ‘theophanic cloud’ is just a manifestation of Yahweh or Spirit.

Trying to understand why Yahweh used a Cloud as a symbol for Himself without understanding the belief system of humans at this time can cause misleading conclusions. It must be understood that Yahweh is dealing with mankind on their level of understanding. Spirit works much the same way with each of us on our current level of understanding.

How did men view clouds?

People of this era worshipped elements in the sky, such as the sun, moon and stars. They thought that storm clouds were all powerful deities who controlled nature. Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words (Copyright (C) 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers) states: “God appears as the controller and sovereign of nature. This description is somewhat parallel to the descriptions of Baal, the lord of the storm and god of nature set forth in Ugaritic mythology.”

Clearly, a Cloud symbolically suspended in the sky shows forth its heavenly nature. It also demonstrates that Elohim and the angelic creation are composed of a cloud-like spiritual substance not as dense as matter. The reader must keep in mind that Yahweh is not a cloud, but is using this form to convey specific principles about the nature of Spirit. Next, we will show that the Cloud was a meeting place for the soul and Yahweh.

What do Clouds symbolize?

The Cloud served as a meeting place between the human soul and Yahweh. Simply put, the Cloud is a door way into eternity. It enables a soul, not a physical body, to transcend space and time and commune with Elohim. Moses spent 40 days in this Cloud on top of Mt. Sinai (Ex. 24:16-18) which we will discuss later in this article.

What does the Cloud as a symbol tell humans about Yahweh?

This ‘Spirit cloud’ is the visible manifestation of the Father—Yahweh in the Pure Spirit state. The abstract state of Spirit has no visible form in the earth plane. Spiritual principles, such as pure Love, Intelligence, Truth, Justice, etc., cannot be physically observed; only their manifestations.

Yahshua (Jesus) the Messiah told the teachers of Israel that they had not heard His voice nor seen His form (John 5:37). The Messiah was referring to His spiritual form or body that He revealed to John, Peter and James at the transfiguration on top of Mt. Tabor (Mt. 17:1-9; Lk. 9:34-35), which the prophets of old saw. Simply put, Yahweh has the ability to take on the form of a man and in this form he is called the Word or Son (Jn. 1:1-4). This will be discussed later in this article.

Yahweh used the form of a Cloud to demonstrate that the Creator has no particular shape or form, just as humans in their beginning have no form. When the sperm fertilizes the ovum, a gray and white substance results. [Note: see the beginning of Creation Gn. 1:1-20] Yahweh told Israel from the fiery Cloud at Mt. Sinai:“…ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude [form]; only ye heard a voice (Deu. 4:12).” Israel at the base of the mountain did not see a form within this Cloud as Moses and the others prophets did at the top of the mountain.

From a metaphysical standpoint everyone knows that God is Love (1 Jn. 4:8, 16). However, ‘love’ does not have a shape or form. There is a ‘love of country,’ a ‘love of money’ or physical things, and a ‘love of knowledge’ or intangible things (see “Love” in the May/June 1994 issue of the “PLIM REPORT.” Until ‘Love’ takes on some type of form, it is hard to be understood or it is ‘cloudy.’ The average Israelite did not understand Yahweh because they had not seen Him take on form in their mind as understanding.

What did Moses experience in the Cloud?

Dr. Kinley stated that God showed him a vision in 1931 (see illustration on p. 25). He saw Moses being shown a rerun of the creation of the world in six days. Moses saw this vision during the 40 days that he was in the Cloud (Ex. 24:18; Ex. 24:16; see the 1st chapter of Genesis). The seventh day Elohim rested, for it was a Sabbath day and the remaining 33 days Moses saw the tabernacle Pattern in a vision (Ex. 25:40). [Note to the reader: for more details on this event see the book Elohim the Archetypal Original Pattern of the Universe by H. C. Kinley, D.D. (© 1961, 1969 The Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research, Inc.; Vol. 1; p. 26-39.]

It is quite obvious that Moses and Joshua had to be in the Spirit or the realm of eternity. Isaiah wrote that Yahweh abides not in time: “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, ... (Isa. 57:15).” Thus, time and space cease to exist when one enters this phenomenal cloud. This is why these two men could stay in the mount 40 days and nights without food and water.

Did other prophets experience a non-physical realm?

Paul said that he was lifted up to the ‘third heaven’ and he did not know whether he was in a physical body or not (2 Cor. 12:1-5). He saw things that were hard to be uttered to anyone because words were not adequate to describe what he saw.

Now the ‘third heaven’ is the Most Holy Place by the tabernacle pattern. Yahweh resided there in a Cloud above the mercy seat between the wings of the cherub of the Ark of the Covenant (Lev. 16:2; Ex. 25:22). In reality, the ‘third heaven’ is Jerusalem Above which the Most Holy Place is an earthly type. So being caught up to the third heaven, in reality, is being caught up into the cloud—eternity. The past, present, and future are known in eternity. This means that Yahshua (Jesus) declared the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:9-10, Rev. 1:11).

Whenever Elohim appeared to the prophets, they described Him as appearing within a cloud. Moses said: “... Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, ... (Ex. 34:5; 24:9-10; see Ex. 19:18; Num. 11:25).” Elohim showed Moses His back parts (Ex. 33:20-23). Ezekiel said that He saw a fiery Cloud in his vision. “I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire enfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire (Ezk. 1:4).” We shall also show later that the Apostle John saw in a vision an angel come down from heaven clothed in a Cloud (Rev. 10:1).

Prophets entered the Cloud or eternity and saw events that transpired in the past, their current time, and the future. For example, Moses saw the creation of the universe, the tabernacle pattern, and the events from Adam and Eve to his present time. He wrote his vision in the book of Genesis (For detail see Dr. Henry C. Kinley's book). Other prophets, as Daniel, saw future eventssaw and wrote them in books (Dan. 7:13), which later the Messiah came and fulfilled (Mt. 5:17-18; Lk. 24:44-46).

Simply put, entering this Cloud is like entering another state of consciousness that differs from the everyday waking consciousness. In analogy, it would be like going to sleep, losing the waking state, and entering the dream state (see “Mystical States of Consciousness,” in the March/April 1994 issue of the “PLIM REPORT.”

Was there a Cloud in the tabernacle and Somolon’s temple?

Both the tabernacle and temple were setup so Yahweh could dwell among Israel (Ex. 25:8; 1 Kgs. 6:13-14). It was stated earlier that the Cloud of Yahweh resided in the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle above the mercy seat, between the wings of the cherubim. Yahweh told Moses that this was the place where He would commune with him. “And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him (Num. 7:89).”

This proves that the cloud is a meeting place for human souls and Elohim. Clearly, the cloud’s dwelling place has great symbolic meaning because the tabernacle and temple represent the human body.

What does the Cloud in the tabernacle or temple reveal about the soul?

The tabernacle and temple correlate with the physical body and the Cloud corresponds to the soul with the Holy Spirit therein. When one examines the testimonies later in this article of those that have seen the soul leave the body, they claim that a fog or Cloud comes out of the body. This verifies the scriptures and also reveals the nature of our spiritual body.

Using the tabernacle and the temple, one can see that consciousness was not housed in any vessel within these structures. Consciousness was the Cloud of Yahweh that spoke to and directed the priests. Likewise, the organs in the body are not the source of consciousness, but are vessels through which consciousness operates on the earth plane.

Paul said: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of Elohim (God), and ye are not your own (1 Cor. 6:19)?” The Messiah always told His disciples that it was the Father in Him working the miracles (Jn. 14:8-10). In short, Yahweh demonstrated to humans by the tabernacle that His Spirit resides within each of us. Our head cavity (the mind) is the place of communion, and the Spirit dwelling therein is the power latent in man (PLIM).

Now the brain in the physical body is an analogy to Yahweh’s Cloud in the tabernacle for it is the seat of authority (See two articles on the“Still Small Voice, Part 1 & 2” in the September/October and November/December 1993 issue of the “PLIM REPORT.” Medical science says that the most complex structure in the universe is the human brain. Clouds also play an important part in space. Astronomers believe stars are formed from clouds of dust that fall into a black hole in space (see illustration on p. 29).

What experiences did the Messiah have with the cloud?

When Elohim (God) was manifest in the body as Yahshua the Messiah (Jn. 1:14), He took some of His disciples into Mt. Tabor and transfigured before them. He did this in fulfillment (Mt. 5:17-18, Lk. 24:37, 44-46) of what Joshua did to Moses, Aaron, Nadad, Abihu at Mt. Sinai (Exo. 25:3-4, 8-9). They were overshadowed by a Cloud and “... a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him (Mt. 17:5).” Within the Cloud or state of eternity, the Messiah produced the souls of Moses and John the Baptist.

The reader must understand that this event did not take place in space and time. The Messiah had caught up His disciples to the third heaven, as the Apostle Paul experienced (2 Cor. 12:1).

At His ascension, the Messiah went into heaven upon a Cloud (Acts. 1:9). In both cases the disciples were looking at visions. This definitely shows the Messiah has the power to move into the Spirit as He wills.

Does the Book of Revelation refer to a cloud?

John said in Revelation: “… I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire (Rev. 10:1):” This angel that came down from heaven was the Messiah “clothed” in the cloud. According to the Strong’s Greek Hebrew Dictionary the word for “clothed” is the Greek word “periballo” (per-ee-bal’-lo); (#4016). It has the following meanings:

1) to throw around, to put around

a) to surround a city with a bank (palisade)

b) used of garments, to clothe one

2) to put a thing on one

3) to clothe one with a thing

c) to put on or clothe oneself

The definition that is appropriate here is:“3. to cloth one with a thing.” Now this angel, who is Elohim, clothed within a Cloud simply means that Yahweh took on form in the Cloud as He did with Moses back at Mt. Sinai (Ex. 34:5).

As this article has pointed out, the Cloud symbolically represents the Father-Yahweh who has the power to appear in this form or any other at will.

The Messiah told His disciples on mount Olives: “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Mt. 24:30; Rev. 14:14).”

This scripture has confounded many to create all types of spurious interpretations. Scripturally. its been proven that all souls are composed of this cloud-like substance.

This means that all souls are interconnected to the source or Elohim who can at any time reveal Himself universally to all souls at once. When the Messiah reveals Himself to all the souls at once, this is Him coming in clouds (plural). This would compare to the flash of the Sheckinah (Light of Elohim) in the tabernacle that the high priest saw on the Day of Atonement which revealed that Israel’s sins had been forgiven.

How does the Bible describe the soul?

Those that have seen ghosts or human souls describe them as being composed of a cloud-like substance (see “What is the Substance of the Soul” in the May/June 1993 issue of the “PLIM REPORT”). The Bible verifies this description of the human soul in the dedication of the tabernacle and Solomon Temple. When both of these structures were finished and all the furnishings were put therein, a Cloud appeared and filled them (Ex. 40:34; 1 Kgs. 8:10-12). When the ark of the covenant was brought into the Holy Place of the temple, “The Cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the Cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord (1 Kings 8:10-11).” Understanding that the temple or tabernacle is symbolical of the human body (1 Cor. 6:19-20), the Cloud correlates with the human soul. This means the soul is also composed of this cloud-like substance.

It must be remembered that Adam’s soul was within Elohim, as we live, move, and have our being within Spirit. Elohim created Adam’s soul by breathing into his physical body (Gn. 2:7; Job 33:4). This is why the word ‘soul’ in most languages means breath of life, which is very close to being a cloud-like substance. This implies that Adam’s soul has the same capabilities of Elohim, but is limited in capacity. Adam was made in the image of Elohim (Gn. 1:26).

Who else described the soul as a cloud-like substance?

Dr. Crookall, a leading English researcher of psychic phenomenal, in his book Out of the Body Experiences (© 1970 Citadel Press) interviewed hundreds of individuals about their out-of-body experiences. There was a small group of these individuals who claim to have actually seen their own soul or someone else’s. They described the substance as ‘foggy,’ ‘cloudy, ‘a vapor,’ ‘a mist.’ One stated: “It was as though the room were filled with steam or white clouds, half transparent (p. 47).”

Others went on to say that within this midst, the deceased took on the likeness of their physical body. Anthony Martin confirmed this in his book Understanding Astral Projection (© 1980 The Aquarian Press). He quoted Archie Mason the Waiting World, about a woman who saw her mother’s soul leave the body. “…I turned and looked at mother. Her face was serene, and floating from her and above her toward the ceiling was a bright, golden, shapeless mist…(p. 21)”

These testimonies show that the soul is comprised of a mist or cloud-like substance and it has the ability to take on the likeness of its physical appearance or appear in a Cloud with no form or shape. Remember, the resurrected body of the Messiah was able to ‘put on’ flesh for the disciples to believe that He resurrected from the grave (Lk. 24:36-39). These characteristics mimic the Cloud of Yahweh and prove the divine authenticity of scriptures.

What are other cultures’ meaning of the Cloud in non-Biblical experiences?

Many spiritual experiences and descriptions of the cloud in non-Christian cultures and religions are similar to those described in the Bible. There are many who deny this possibility, but they fail to realize that Yahweh is not a respector of persons or religions (Acts 10:34). Thinking that only Christians see visions and have spiritual experiences limits the Creator who does not favor any religion. When one examines both the Old and New Testament in the scriptures, we will find that Yahweh spoke to Baalam, a Gentile prophet (Num. 22-24 chp.). He appeared in dream to King Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 2nd, 3rd, 4th chp.) and Pontius Pilate’s wife (Mt. 27:19). An angel appeared to Cornelius, an Italian who was the first Gentile to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:1-5 )

One of the better known accounts of a non-Christian spiritual experience, among student of divine metaphysics, is the Hindu accounts of the Kundalini by Gopi Krishna.

Mr. Krishna had spent many years meditating, but on this particular occasion he described himself as being engulfed within light and a burning cloud. “... I found myself staring fearfully into vast internal glow, disquieting and threatening, at times, always in rapid motion, as if particles of an luminous stuff crossed and recrossed each other, resembling the ceaseless movement of wildly leaping lustrous clouds of spray raising from a water fall which lighted by the sun, rushes down foaming into seething pool ... with my mental eye, I saw only a brilliant shower or a glowing pool of light (Living with the Kundalini Shambhala 1993 p. 145).” Gopi had a nervous breakdown after this experience. He associated this experience with “Kundalini.” This is the Hindu way of saying that the spirit awoke in the man, a seven staged process through steps called Chakras. (See “Mystical States of Consciousness” in the March/April 1994 issue and “Meditation” in the January/February 1994 issue of the “PLIM REPORT.”)

The Hindus believe that Kundalini resides in the bottom of the spine and moves up to the brain causing a transformation in the person. Not having the tabernacle pattern, one might believe this interpretation, but with the tabernacle one can see that this is a misinterpretation.

Space will not allow a full explanation of this, but the Cloud resided in the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle and compares to the consciousness of mankind that the Messiah must resurrect and transform. The flow of heat up the spine to the brain would compare to the high priest taking fire from the Court Round About to the Most Holy Place on the Day of Atonement and waiting to see the flash of the Shekinah. The Spirit has to be revealed to the soul of man, as the Messiah revealed Himself to His disciples by putting on a fleshy body.

Did anyone is England experience the cloud?

Richard M. Bucke, M.D., in his book Cosmic Consciousness described his spiritual experiences and others. After a discussion with his friends, Wordsworth, Shelly, Keats, Browning, and Whitman, Bucke returned home in deep contemplation when he had this experience. “All at once without warning of any kind, he found himself wrapped around, as it were, by a flame colored cloud. For an instant he thought of fire-some sudden conflagration in the great city. The next (instant) he knew that the light was within himself. Directly after there came upon him a sense of exultation, of immense joyousness, accompanied or immediately followed by an intellectual illumination quite impossible to describe.”

There is always an interpretation for any experience, physical or spiritual. Mr. Bucke interpreted his spiritual experience in terms of the Hindu God Braham being revealed unto him. He said: “Into his brain streamed one momentary lightning flash of the Brahmic Splendor which ever since lightened his life.”

Now his interpretation of the experience does not invalidate the experience, any more than if we saw something physical, and misinterpreted what was physically seen. What it shows is that unless one has a divine interpretation of the Bible or talks to someone that has spiritual knowledge, one cannot fully understand what one has experienced. The symbols that Yahweh gave Israel, such as the tabernacle pattern and the temple, if used properly, can adequately interpret these experiences because the tabernacle is a pattern of heavenly things (Heb. 8:5).

Finally, one of the most bizarre events concerning the appearance of this phenomenal cloud happened in England in 1967, which shows that scriptures do repeat themselves. Paul Devereux in his book Earth Lights Revelation (© 1989 Blandford) states that he was on the top floor of a building of Ravensbourne College of Arts and Technology. He saw a bright orange light cloud that lit up the sky. This cloud was boiling and it was restructuring itself into various clear forms. “I saw featureless, glowing orange shapes of a figure with its arms outspread (p. 216-217).” There were others who claim to have seen this man or Christ-like form of a man on the cross. No one had an explanation for this fiery cloud, which appeared for about two minutes before vanishing out of their sight. The scripture shows that this is the cloud of Yahweh appearing to humans. Paul Devereux explains why many people that saw this cloud observed something different. “I suspect there was a basic form that each person perceived through the filters of their own psychology and background - it is clear that everyone saw something very similar (p. 217).”

Conclusion

Most Christians overlook the symbolism of the Cloud of Yahweh (the Lord). This results in vague generalities and not having any understanding of Spirit. Faith based on these vague notions brings more and more doubt.

The Cloud, the temple, and the tabernacle are analogies that Yahweh created to aid humans in their conception of Spirit. Without these symbols that Yahweh gave to Israel, mankind has only their imagination to conceive of the Creator, which leads to confusion.

Clearly, the Cloud shows the nature of Spirit. It allows man to understand the ethereal substance of Spirit and its ability to transform into a man called the Word or Son, which reveals the invisible formless Father to us. It also allows humans to comprehend the nature of the Godhead. The cloud shows that the Father Yahweh in the abstract state and Son-Elohim in an intermediate state are One and the difference between them.

Finally, most important, the Cloud is the closest earthly substance that symbolized the substance of the soul. Many who have observed the soul in visions and OBEs verify this. Clearly, the attributes that our souls have, such as Intelligence, Love, Wisdom, Power, Strength, etc., are the result of being the direct offspring of Elohim. The Cloud also shows that consciousness was never in the human body although it manifests through it. In addition, the Cloud of Yahweh shows that there is an inseparable relationship between the human soul and the Creator and the communication is always direct with no physical mediator.
